When you want to develop an iPhone or iPad app, essentially you will need to test in an actual device along with simulator. Many people are using the apple devices for general purpose but they can be used for the application testing too. However, it is bit complex to configure your device for testing while you are doing your iPhone Application Development. The first step you will need is to find a UDID, required to add in apple development account.
UDID aka Unique Device Identifier is a 40 characters long unique number given by Apple to each device. Your iPhone/ iPad can only install programs that are approved by Apple. However, we can register the UDID with Apple so that the application can be allowed to run in specific device.
Following are the steps to know the UDID of your device.
a) Launch iTunes in your Windows PC or MAC.
b) Connect your iPhone/ iPad with iTunes.
c) Look for the information about your device, like Name, Software, Serial Number, Phone Number in the right pane.
d) Click on Serial Number, which will reveal the Identifier.
That’s it. You have got your UDID. You can pass it to your development team or you can submit in developer account to make your phone a testing device.
