AI Readiness Assessment

MindInventory assesses whether your organization is ready to build and deploy AI, where to start, and what to fix first. In two weeks, we score your data, systems, people, governance, and use cases, then give you a ranked roadmap. If the answer is “not yet,” we show exactly what needs to change before you invest in AI development.

READINESS CHECK

FREE DIAGNOSTIC

IS YOUR BUSINESS ACTUALLY READY FOR AI?

Four questions, about a minute. You'll get a directional read on whether your data, team, and governance can support your AI goals before you commit budget to any vendor, us included.

QUESTION 1 OF 4

How would you describe your business data?

What an AI Readiness Assessment Gives You

An AI readiness assessment answers one question before you spend on a build: can your organization deliver AI that works in production, and if not, what is missing? MindInventory’s assessment ends with five deliverables your team keeps and can act on without us.
Deliverable
What it tells you
Readiness scorecard
Your score on six dimensions, with the evidence behind each score
Ranked use case register
Which AI ideas to pursue first, scored on value, data, and adoption
Data readiness findings
Whether the data each use case needs exists, is usable, and may legally be used
Gap plan
What to fix, in what order, with effort and cost ranges
90-day roadmap
The first steps, owners, and a decision point on whether to build

What We Check Before You Invest in AI

MindInventory, an AI Development Company, combines four reviews into findings that feed your AI readiness scorecard and roadmap.

Data Readiness Audit

We check whether the data each use case needs exists, how complete and consistent it is, whether outcomes were recorded, and whether consent and contracts allow its use. Where a use case depends on data work first, the audit says how much.

AI Capability Gap Analysis

We compare the skills, roles, and tools you have with what your chosen use cases need, and show which gaps to hire for, train for, or cover with a partner.

Use Case Ranking

We collect AI ideas from leadership and teams, then score each on business value, data availability, technical risk, and how likely people are to use it. The top three get a short business case.

Systems and Governance Review

We map the systems AI would read from and write to, and check your security, privacy, and approval rules. Gaps that would block a launch, such as no policy on customer data in AI tools, are flagged early.

Find Out Where Your AI Readiness Stands

Take MindInventory’s 60-second AI Readiness Check. Four questions return a score out of 12, what your band means, and the next step that fits it. Your email is asked for only on the result screen, and the result shows either way.

See Where Your AI Readiness Stands and What to Do Next

An AI readiness score is only useful when it leads to a practical decision. MindInventory places your organization in one of five readiness stages based on your data, systems, people, governance, and use cases. We then connect that stage to the next move, so you know whether to validate a use case, strengthen your foundation, scale production, or govern an existing AI portfolio.
Stage
What it looks like
The next move that fits
1. Curious
Interest in AI, no use case or owner
Pick one decision to improve and name its owner
2. Experimenting
Pilots and tools in use, nothing in production
Choose the pilot with the best data and fund it properly
3. First production
One AI system live, built mostly by hand
Add monitoring, governance, and a repeatable pipeline
4. Repeatable
Several systems on shared data and processes
Build shared features, a platform, and an AI policy
5. Embedded
AI is part of how core decisions are made
Govern the portfolio and measure value system by system

Our AI Readiness Assessment Process

MindInventory runs the assessment in four steps over two weeks, with your team spending about six to eight hours in total on interviews and reviews.

  1. Step 1

    Kickoff and Interviews

We meet your sponsor and interview leaders, data owners, and the people who would use AI day to day.

You receive: an interview summary and a list of candidate use cases

Typical time: days 1 to 3

Moves on when: every relevant data owner has been interviewed

  2. Step 2

    Data and Systems Review

We review samples, schemas, and system access for the leading use cases, without moving your data out of your environment.

You receive: data readiness findings per use case

Typical time: days 3 to 7

Moves on when: each top use case has a data verdict

  3. Step 3

    Scoring and Ranking

We score the six dimensions, place you on the maturity model, and rank use cases on value and feasibility.

You receive: the readiness scorecard and ranked use case register

Typical time: days 7 to 9

Moves on when: your sponsor has reviewed the draft

  4. Step 4

    Roadmap and Readout

We present findings to your leadership team and agree the 90-day roadmap, including whether and where to build first.

You receive: the final report, gap plan, and 90-day roadmap

    Typical time: day 10

Moves on when: the roadmap has named owners

Self-Assessment or Structured AI Readiness Audit?

MindInventory offers three ways to check readiness, from a free self-check to a full assessment. The 60-second check and the feasibility assessment are free. The full AI Readiness Assessment covers several use cases and your whole organization, takes two weeks, and is scoped separately because its size depends on how many teams and systems are involved.

Why Choose MindInventory for AI Readiness Assessment

At MindInventory, we combine AI engineering expertise with structured governance to help you make informed investment decisions before development begins. Our 70+ AI engineers, data scientists, and MLOps specialists assess your data, infrastructure, use cases, security, and operational readiness against the demands of production AI. As an ISO 42001-certified AI management systems provider, we help you identify risks, prioritize improvements, and build a practical roadmap grounded in technical feasibility, governance, effort, and cost.
Honest Readiness Recommendations

Honest Readiness Recommendations

We assess whether your AI initiative is ready to proceed, needs targeted improvements, or should wait. If the evidence does not support building yet, we explain why and what needs to change first.

Actionable Technical Guidance

Actionable Technical Guidance

We translate assessment findings into specific technical and operational actions, with clear priorities, estimated effort, and costs to help your team close readiness gaps.

Risk-Based Improvement Roadmap

Risk-Based Improvement Roadmap

We prioritize the gaps most likely to delay deployment, increase costs, or create governance risks. Your roadmap focuses on removing critical blockers before investing in lower-impact improvements.

Complete Assessment Ownership

AI Readiness Assessment FAQs

You are ready when you have a specific decision to improve, data that records how that decision turned out, a person who owns the result, and a budget for a first build. If any of the four is missing, fix it before buying a model. MindInventory’s 60-second check gives a first read, and the full assessment confirms it with evidence.

Two weeks for the full assessment, with about six to eight hours of your team’s time across interviews and reviews. The free AI Feasibility Assessment for one named use case also takes two weeks, and the online readiness check takes 60 seconds. MindInventory keeps the timeline fixed so the assessment does not turn into an open-ended consulting project.

Samples, schemas, and read access to the systems behind your leading use cases, never full copies. MindInventory reviews data inside your environment where possible, under an NDA and your security rules. For regulated data such as patient records, we work under a BAA and review only what each use case needs.

You get a gap plan that shows exactly what would change the answer, ranked by effort and cost. Often the first step is small: recording an outcome you do not capture today, naming an owner, or agreeing an AI use policy. MindInventory can help close the gaps, but the roadmap is yours to act on with any partner.

Yes. The readiness assessment answers whether you can build AI yet and where to start. AI consulting starts once that is settled and answers what to build, how, and in what order, often ending in a proof of concept. Many organizations do the assessment first and move into consulting or a build with the roadmap it produces.

Partly. The assessment checks whether basic rules exist, such as an AI use policy and someone who approves AI projects, because their absence blocks launches. It does not build a full governance program. If governance is the main gap, MindInventory’s AI governance consulting covers policies, risk assessments, and regulation in depth.
